ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 29, 2009--
Sprint (NYSE: S) announced today the recipients of its 2009 Atlanta
community-giving programs. The Sprint Local Grant Program will award two
$25,000 Sprint Foundation grants to Atlanta-area programs that support
Sprint’s focus area of youth development. In addition, the Sprint
Community Champions Program will honor two outstanding Atlanta-area
residents who have made a positive impact on the community with Sprint
Foundation grants to qualified non-profit organizations of the honorees’
choice. The recipients will be recognized and honored at an upcoming
celebration in the Atlanta area.

RECIPIENTS AND HONOREES:

Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta was selected as a
2009 Sprint Local Grant Program recipient and will receive a $25,000
Sprint Foundation grant for its Connected Learning Connected
Communities program. The program is designed to engage and partner
with underserved areas in Atlanta in the education of their children
by offering the Museum and its unique educational tools as a partner
and a resource.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta was selected as a 2009
Sprint Local Grant Program recipient and will receive a $25,000 grant
for its Power Hour program. Power Hour is a homework help, tutoring
and educational enrichment program that helps kids age six to 18
develop organizational skills, including time management, prioritizing
and task completion.

Marietta resident Norman Mitchell was selected as the 2009
Sprint Community Champion adult honoree, and the Sprint Foundation
will be awarding a $5,000 grant to his selected charitable
organization, Communities in Schools of Marietta/Cobb County. Mitchell
mentors students at the Performance Learning Center, a non-traditional
high school for students who are behind in credits and are considering
dropping out of high school. He supports and gives the high at-risk
students a foundation for success. He is an active volunteer with
Communities in Schools of Marietta/Cobb County, Dare2Dream and his
church.

Roswell resident and Roswell High School sophomore Austin Shaw
was selected as the 2009 Sprint Youth Community Champion honoree, and
the Sprint Foundation will be awarding a $2,500 grant to Shaw’s
selected charitable organization, Hemophilia of Georgia. Shaw helped
lead the charge to bring new enhancements to Camp Twin Lakes, a camp
for kids with bleeding/clotting disorders. He is also actively
involved with the Boy Scouts, his church and programs supporting
foster children.
